Today I had a really interesting session with my good friends. I decided to make a retro style photos, something in retro train travelers style. So I searched my grandfathers country garret for props or stuff I can use for this session and found two vintage suitcases, just like in 50’s people used to travel with. We picked a nice location not far from my apartment, with railroad tracks and train hangars. As the weather was not so warm we were shooting for an hour or so, made some series of classic shots like “going away”, “catch that train” and other.

Today I found this picture from some old Russian book. There are 6 pictures of how you can use your lubitel medium format camera. This reminds me of some soviet spy manual especially the 6th photo.

How to use a Lubitel camera

Some days ago a bought another old camera and it was Lubitel 166 universal, original soviet camera, was manufactured in 1991. Soon I’ll post a review about this camera but now I want to share the original manual.

Not long time ago I bought a Smena 8m soviet 35mm film camera. It was quite popular in the 70s. So I tested it with 2 films:

• Ilford FP4 PLUS 125 (B&W)
• KODAK 200 (COLOUR)

I developed the B&W film my self and colour KODAK film was developed in the lab, I really like the b&w film and further I think I’ll buy only that kind of film. So let’s look at the test shots.

I bought this one on a flea market for a couple of bucks. The quality is almost perfect for the 60 years old camera. I’m a big fan of retro stuff. Now I’m looking forward to make some old school retro pin up photos.

You don’t neet to understand Japanese to make your photos vintage, the interface is very simple.
