SB-600 Flash & Light Modifiers Test

For the test I used my new flash Nikon SB-600 without build in  diffuser at 24 zoom. Flash was fired remotely by CACTUS V2s trigger. Photos was shot on my Nikon D80 with 18-200 zoom lens set at 24mm 60 f/4.2 .

Not long ago I bought a new flash Nikon SB-600 and a pack of color gels. I surfed the net for a solution how to mount gels on a flash, found some ways but my gels was too big for DIY mounting racks I found, so then I saw an article “DIY 580ex color gels printing diagram“, it inspired me to make a printing diagram for my flash. I spend some time measuring my flash head and draw a sketch in Illustrator. Then I printed it and tried to mount on my flash, it fits perfectly.

Building Mood With Still Life Scenes / Yellow flower

The goal for anyone shooting still life scenes is ultimately to come away with images that are compelling — to capture images that are worth printing, framing and living with. A photograph, however, tends to have a shorter “wall life” than say, a painting. Much of this has to do with the fact that the painter has ultimate control and artistic freedom in every space of the canvas, and is limited only by the capacity of their vision and skill.

How to make a flash trigger

you can make a simple flash trigger from a scrap :) You just need 2 wires a cardboard and 2 pieces of alluminium foil. Check out this video and experiment.
